This Week my friends and I have been learning about Suffixes and what they are? We worked through some of our playtime and lunchtime. We had to come up with a creative way to show how much we know about suffixes.My friend Amria was Alice and Sweyde was time.I found this hard to remember the lines.

Have you ever heard of Pacific Paradise?Well if you haven't read this.

This week I have been learning to summaries the text and my response to the book.
My next steps are to use the main ideas properly.

Last week we read a book could Pacific Paradise this book is mostly about the life cycle of freshwater eels did you know that when the female eel is laying it’s eggs they get so exhausted that when they have had they eggs they are so exhausted that they die. Then the tiny fertilised eggs will bob to the surface and grow into leaf-shaped larvae. These will become part of the ocean plankton and will be carried by surface currents to the shore of New Zealand. Then after there they go back into the river.

Now that is why it’s called the life cycle of a freshwater eel because it goes around and then starts back over again.

I think thank the most interesting part of this book is when the female tuna is laying the eggs it gets so exhausted that it dies.

Scream!

This is my recount writing.I have been learning to try and use figurative language such as simile, hyperbole, pun or metaphor in my story.

Scream!

“Rainbow Falls! Rainbow Falls!” was all I could hear.

Excitedly I screamed as we pulled into Rainbow falls drive thru I was so excited super duper excited. First I got our food and ran straight down to the picnic table.Then my mum,nana,dad,brother,uncle and cousin came down too.

When we got down I put my togs on and jumped right into the water. I started doing bombs until….Something had a hold of me, pulling me down .Help!. I was almost drowning so I tried kicking it but I kept on missing so I screamed as loud as I could but every time I would scream it would pull me straight down.It was a horror scene. I was a cat scared to have a bath ( thats why cats dont like baths because they can drown)

Finally it let me go it was a big huge giant wait it was just my cousin 2 years older than me.She started laughing at me so I said “you just wait I will get you back”.I told her “You just keep on laughing you can have this moment for now”

Five minute later we had a big picnic with chocolate, skittles,chicken but then I put loads of pepper and salt on her chicken and her face looked so funny when she ate her chicken. I said “Who’s laughing now”After that we went to the other side of paihia to pick some juicy pipis(When we were picking pipis I was eating them too)

.Finally we went home.I will never forget that day when I finally got my cousin back for pranking me.

My next steps are to put more interesting words in my story.

The life of an animal.

My next step in poems is to learn about alliteration.

This is my assonance poem.
I was using assonance to put in my poem.
I thought putting the assonance in was kinda hard.
Assonance means in poetry,the repetition of the sound of a vowel.
Now I know how to put assonance in my poems.

Chasing my dreams.

Today Ray Bishop visited our school.He is a Duffy hero.


I think that Ray Bishop is a amazing. He inspired me to follow my dreams and never give up.He said whatever you want to do it nothing is going to stop you. So I want to be a personal trainer or a Olympic runner for New Zealand and bring back a silver or gold.Here are my Duffy books.

BOK CHOY

In the last weeks I have been reading this cool book called Bok Choy. It was written by Paul Mason and  this story is a fiction.

This setting is in Otago and it was written in 1865, the main characters are Jacob and a man named Ah sum. Jacob got  rescued by someone who everybody hates (Ah sum).

The scariest thing was when Jacob fell into a river and got pushed up against  the rocks but Ah sum saved him. And at the end Mrs bishop said the Chinese man would probably sell his own mother for a penny. Isn’t that mean? so thats the end of this book.

Do you want to know how I got a bloody knee? Well, this is how started.

On a cold freezing Saturday morning there I was standing  with Rangimarie, her mum,her dad, Huhanna, my mum,  Kullen and some people from the team. We were at Kaikohe Netball court getting ready for our netball game. I  whispered “Where are they?” “Umm I don't know” Rangimarie replied.

A few minutes into our warm up Aunty Mere told us who we were against. She happily sang out “We’re vs East we’re vs East”. We all shouted “ yeah!” It was a  funny moment. A while later, there we were out on the netball court with Kaikohe East I was playing wing defence.

Nearly half way through the game Boom  I fell to the ground on my knee it was this big--------. Ouchy!  . It was bleeding. My graze stung like a bee-sting. Lucky it wasn't night and vampires aren't real i thought to myself. I was scared.  I was almost about to cry but, I didn't. I keep going and never gave up. Later it was half time Aunty Mere nicely asked me “are you ok?” I replied “yeah, just fine. Thats what happens when you play sports aye?”

A few steals later it was the second half. I was on the court with my cousin Alexis she was wing attack and I was wing defence. The whistle blew wewewe! I ran to defence so that East couldn’t get the ball .Out came the big girl blocking me, I couldn’t get through. It was hot the sun was punching me down.Drip drop drip drop do you know what that was???(It was my sweat slipping down my body as I played). I was breathless trying to steal the ball of them I mean totally puffing.  I was like a steam train. A couple of missed shoots later and the game was over. East School didn’t have much to say. I asked “cat got your tongue?” They nodded their heads.

We were all sad but happy that we had participated.I will always remember that feeling when we lost to a good team.

Last Week I read The Peanut Prankster it is a fiction.

This story is Written by Karen Wallace and Judy Brown.

This book was mostly about a man who tricked the queen into giving him the royal jewels for dum purple peanuts but the crook catchers (the crook catchers are Lettuce
leef and Nimble Charlie). They  stopped this man by using his brother.

This is how they did it .When the queen was about to give him the royal gems that’s when his brother ran into the room and the queen got confused she yelled” step forward the real El Bulgey Blabalotti” they both stepped forward then the queen's royal assent slappter ran in the middle of them and put a hand  on each of their heads and rubbed then their head. There wigs fell off. The queen went red and yelled “guards” and thats is how they stopped him.    

My favorite part was when twenty royal corgis thundered into the room and that meant the queen was coming in.

This is my writing assessment I have worked on improving its punctuation,spelling and volcabulary

On a friday afternoon my mum and dad came to pick us up to go to Whangarei  when we were going to Whangarei we  were playing I spy. It was fun.

Then we got to Whangarei.

In Whangarei we went to my aunty and uncle's house. And they were not there so we called them to see how long they were going to be after a while they came. My uncle asked if we wanted to go on the boat tomorrow.

My mum said “ok”. On Sunday we went to matapouri it was fun in matapouri we went to the beach at the beach my baby cousin made a sandcastle   but me and my other cousins all had a race in when we jumped in  the water felt as cold as ice.  

After that my uncle asked if we were ready we said “yes” so he took us for a ride it was fun. We could see all of the fish and turtles  and they were as colorful as rainbows “that was epic” I said. Later on we had lunch for lunch we had McDonald I had a waffle cone and the chocolate was slipping down my mouth like a worm after that we had to wait a while I was waiting I had a sand castle building challenge I was awesome. After that we were allowed back in the water so I jumped in and swam to my uncle's boat because he parked it in the water.  I climbed up the ladder and jumped into the water then I did freestyle.

After that  we picked up  K.F.C and went to the park.  The park as fun as rainbows end.

Then It started getting late so we went to my uncle's house and watched tv a little while later my cousins cousins came over and we played spotlight I was hiding by the tree I was laughing because they thought I was in the tree and then they  finally found us so it was my turn to seek  when I  was running to find  my cousin. My eyes where owl eyes looking for him then my cousin jumped out of the parked boat with the other cousins and I got them then they went home  so we had ribs the ribs were as sweet as chocolate then we watched a movie  and went home.

I will never forget when I got a ride in my uncle's boat. The fish and turtles were beautiful.

My Recount

Tuesday 27th October In Paihia On a sunny Sunday my family and I were going to Paihia. So we all got up but first we got dressed and then we all ran outside and played cricket.The teams were Tane, Me and my little cousin Tamina. In the other team was my cousin Mana, Jahnel and my cousin Adam. We played the song Hula Hoop by Omi and Sorry by Justin Bieber. In the video there were girls dancing. I knew some of them. Samaya, and Paris Goebel. After that my mum told us to go to the van. Before we went to the van we all got some equipment like the basketball and the rugby ball. Then we went to Paihia and my mum came with our towels and clothes. My dad came with us too and Parry. She's my cousin. When we got to Paihia we all jumped out of the van and ran down to the sand because my mum and dad told us to build a big castle. That was fun. I made a big one with a sand wall and a sticky wall and another wall made out of rocks. Then there was seaweed. I put seaweed all over my castle and my cousins made some with stuff all over it but then I ran to the park. I played on the flying fox but I accidently pushed my cousin Jahnel off the flying fox. A little while later we went home and then we watched the movie on the laptop. We connected it to the tv with the HDMI cord. The movie we watched was a funny movie. It was called 22 Jump Street.

My book review

This week I was reading The Menagerie Dragon on Trial It is a fiction the Author is Tui t Sutherland and its about a dragon and this dragon lives in a cave and on the mountain and there is this castle and this king sent some guards to kill the dragon but they are scared of the dragon.

My favorite part was when the princess followed the guards to the dragon's cave when they got there the princess was hiding behind a tree and the guards left her behind. So the princess ran in the cave and started to train and feed the dragon. . What have you been reading?

Three Bad Things

This is my draft two. What I want to get better at is adding more detail and using interesting words and phrases.

Three Bad Things

I would regret telling you this but I will anyway.It all started when mum and dad said lets go to Whangarie. Well three bad things happen to me that day...

 When we were in the car I got car sick.Then we stopped at the park and something came out It was vomit I spewed all over my mum at the park . She said “ yuck what did you eat Kaya” My dad laughed. That was the first bad thing. After that we went to my nan’s house and my cousin’s were there and we had a bike race.

 I crashed into a tree that was the second bad thing and I got my cousin’s attention and she crashed into me that was the third bad thing . I will never forget that most disgusting time when I spewed all over my mum.
