Teaching Kids

We are learning about the nine parts of speech.This my groups DLO. I think it was easy learning about the nine parts of speech then making a DLO.I think we were successful because we learn't and then we taught others.

Did you know kids are making your clothes?.

In class I had to write a recount from the perspective (view) of a child working in a sweatshop.I chose to be a kid working in Costa Rico.

WALT use descriptive words and phrases to enhance the mood of fear or sadness

I think it was fun to write a story about being in Costa Rico making clothes.I did some research and chose to be in Costa Rico.I think i'm successful because I have sentences that are sad or scary.

Name: Kaya Making clothes for Nike On an early Tuesday morning. I headed to the factory. Ohh by the way i’m Eleni, anyway. I was early as always. Being late is the worst. Cause you had to make extra clothes did I mention I worked at the Nike factory in Costa Rica. Yeah, so you had to make extra clothes ; you didn’t get anything to eat, unless you have finished making an extra twenty five clothes.You had to make twenty clothes already.So you had to make forty five clothes if you were late. Minutes later I heard our boss Rocko yell at Rea and demanded her to make an extra twenty five.“You're late, worker ten once your done your twenty make an extra twenty five now!” (Rocko called us by our station numbers because he forgot our real names) “Yes sir” She quivered and walked back to her station.My heart was pounding away in my chest when our boss stopped at my station and opened his mouth.I thought he was going to say make an extra twenty five and no rice for you,but he said “Well done”. A smile was growing on my face. Beep! The bell for lunch rang.We all left our stations and lined up for our bowls of rice.If you were lucky enough you could get bread with your rice. Yum. We had ten minutes to eat our food ; get back to work.Hours later.Everyone had a twenty minute break.My friend Maria and I could smell something horrible.Like a room full of corpses.Yuck.We were daydreaming that we were in cool places like Rainbow End,Arcades,Water parks and going hiking.Then… I fainted.A couple seconds later I woke up again. “Whew” Maria said while she wiped her sweat.”Ten more minutes” the boss yelled. We jumped onto the roof and looked down.We could see five kids working at their stations ; they were late.They didn’t get any food.They were also getting hit by belts.We saw our boss walking to the door so we jumped down just in time.He walked through the door.“Five more minutes” he yelled waking everyone up. We told everyone what happend.”We saw him hit them with belts” I whispered.Everyone had at least more than one belt mark from where they were hit.”Back to work” Rocko demanded.Hours later.It was one pm. It was time to go home.Most of us didn’t have homes so stayed at work or slept outside.Tommorow I will start all over again except on Wednesday I work twenty hours and get four hours of sleep.Thank you for reading my story.

Last week I was learning about how important it is to read instructions properly and to look at the key in graphs.

Here are a few problems I worked on. It is important that I look at the key because your answers will be wrong.

PAYBACKS.

WALT improve our writing by carefully checking our sentences and trying to add descriptive language.By highlighting them yellow.

I think I am very good at adding descriptive language in my writing.My next steps are to add punctuation in my dialogue.

PAYBACKS.

“We’re going to the beach we’re going to the beach”Kullen chanted with heaps and heaps of excitement. It was like Christmas morning and he was so so excited to open his presents.

We all put our togs on and jumped right into the water. Then... I Scared my cousins. I had a hold of them but my cousin Paula and Jahnel got away.I was pulling Tia down. She was freaking out so she tried kicking me but kept missing so she screamed as loud as she could but every time she would scream I would pull her straight down.She was a victim of a horror movie.She was as scared as a cat having a bath.

Finally I let her go, I started laughing at her so she said “You just wait I will get you back”.She told me “You just keep on laughing you can have this moment for now” My heart was pounding as fast as a wild horse.

Five minute later we had a big picnic with chocolate, skittles,chicken,chips,crackers and drinks.I have never ever tasted more delicious food than that.  Then Tia sprinkled sand all over my chicken she said “Who’s laughing now” I was soo angry, I was about to explode.My mouth tasted disgusting. After that we had a sand ball fight.It was amazing.Finally we went home.I will never forget that day when my cousin got me back for pranking her.That was the best day of my life except for when Tia got me back.

WALT use write cause and effect sentences.

To be successful we will:

1. Think about an cause (event) and what happens because of it (effect)
2. Use cause and effect connectives such as because of this, as a result, as a consequence and when this happens…
3. Check that full stops are at the end of the idea (remember it will be simple, compound or complex)

Here is my paragraph about dump design.

Designed for the dump is when creators make electronics to last 2 years then break so that they get more money and we lose money.When electronics break or go out of fashion we take them to the dump.As a consequence our landfills are pilling up with e-waste as a result people ripping electronics apart will become sick.  

I think I successful because I can see a cause and effect sentence.
I think it was hard to come up with the effects.
